hello! i’m kristi, owner and lead designer at Cle Elum Designs. i’m thrilled to be taking on design projects once again here in the Cle Elum/Roslyn area. here’s a little bit about me and my design “philosophy”.
when i first got into design i was inspired by a local designer’s style. i could literally walk into a home and know she had been there. 15 years later, my hope is the opposite. i hope no one can tell i was there. to me, if i do my job right, your home should feel exactly like you hoped but didn’t quite know how to execute it on your own.
the spaces and homes i work on tend to look cozy and feel inviting. although each home and homeowner are unique, i have a naturally casual design approach that runs the gambit between traditional, modern mountain and a bit of coastal. i often hear myself saying to clients “let’s be aware of trends but focus on timelessness.”
knowing when to invest in quality pieces and when a target or home goods find will do the job is what i love most about being out on my own, not attached to a design studio.
whether i’m helping a homeowner with their new construction build, furnishing or designing a child’s bedroom, i always look at a home holistically. i think the most beautiful homes are one where there is a sense of quiet, curated cohesion as you move about, not intentional matching.
i have a great team now which allows me to take on turnkey projects. probably because i personally love to stay in a great airbnb and partly because there are so many weird ones out there ….. at this time, my favorite projects are doing turnkey higher end vacation rentals where my clients give me a nice long leash to make design choices, and i can be respectful of their budget, making choices i feel will have the most impact.
